Getting Started

Wayne started in photography at 11 years old with an Agfa 35mm half-framed camera. He found an interest in both landscape and action sports picture taking. Over the years it has been mainly a hobby, but have often had requests for prints of his work. He is now expanding that side of his passion as well as getting more involved with the attributes of pinhole photography.

Diving Into Pinhole Photography

I chose to gets involved with pinhole cameras after a relative sent me a point a friend of theirs took. It had a unique look to it and from that point I had the itch. I did not act don the itch for a few years, probably out of fear I would have no idea how to get quality prints.

I finally decided to purchase a Zero Image 4×5 camera, as it took the camera guess work out of the equation. I did not have to worry about film loading and transport, focal lengths and aperture sizes. Alone, each of these in this new format were a bit overwhelming, but put them together and figure out how they all related to one another was confusing. Maybe it shouldn’t have been, but I let it take over. This camera let me concentrate on composition and the new look I was getting myself into.

Now I want to explore different pinhole cameras and techniques. There are so many variables that will change the the look and feel of photos. On this site we will show different phenomena that are created by using different size pinholes, the location of the main light source, the film used and the processing of the film.I am interested to hear other people’s suggestions and questions, so we can explore together.

Monthly , I will pick topic, talk about it, give examples of my experiences to this point, and try some experiments to see how different variables effect the image. Please, get involved and let’s explore this genre together.
